FAQ

  • Welcome to our knowledge centre, which we will gradually expand.
This section is not just a brief list of questions and answers. It is a space where we want to bring you closer to the world of professional LED lighting, share our manufacturing know-how and show you why technological details are the key to your success. Whether you are looking for an efficient solution for illuminated signage or planning healthy lighting for office spaces, we are here to inform you and help you grow.
  • Companies have their own operating principles; you have called yours the principle of four legs. What is it about?
We look at a company like a table with four legs. To be strong and stable, each leg must hold properly. This is exactly how we understand the functioning of a company. Our four legs are the owner, employees, suppliers and clients.
The owner gives the company direction, employees create it every day through their work, suppliers help ensure quality and reliability, and clients give meaning to all our work.
We believe that a good company is not based only on results or profit. It is based mainly on healthy relationships, fairness and balance among everyone who forms it. When one of these four areas weakens, the whole company feels it. When all four are strong, they create a stable foundation for long-term growth.
  • Are you a direct manufacturer of LED luminaires and LED modules, or a trading company?
All our LED modules and LED luminaires are developed and manufactured directly by our company. They are not imports from Asia or similar sources. Thanks to more than 20 years of experience and our own production, we also provide our customers with unique customised solutions.
  • How long have you been active in LED technologies, and since when have you had real manufacturing experience?
From August 2003 until today, we have been professionally involved in the design, manufacture and sale of LED lighting. In 2003, our owner introduced LED lighting for illuminated signage as a new product on the Polish market. We have operated in our current legal form since 2012, preceded by business activity under a trade licence. Speaking of history, few people today remember the rebranding of the Slovak mobile operator Eurotel to T-Mobile in 2005. It was one of the first major projects for which we manufactured our LED lighting.
  • Where is the company based, and where do production and operations currently take place?
Our company's production is based in Slovakia, in the town of Zvolen. Our suppliers are mainly from Europe. The only essential component imported from outside the EU is LED diodes, which we import directly from Japan.
  • Can private individuals buy from you, or are you purely B2B?
We do not operate a retail shop or retail sales. We focus on B2B customers, and sales are only possible to business entities on the basis of an invoice with a company registration number.
  • Who are your solutions primarily intended for?
We focus on the B2B segment. Our professional LED module solutions are intended for manufacturers of illuminated signage, interior decorative panels and illuminated panels. We manufacture LED luminaires for wholesalers, electrical installation companies, construction companies and other corporate customers.
  • In which segments and markets do you have the most experience?
We have the richest experience in the manufacture of LED modules and LED lighting for illuminated signage and decorations. In general, this segment is underestimated, but the extremely demanding conditions to which our products are exposed - outdoor use and frost, high temperatures and humidity - as well as the potentially high costs of repairs and warranty claims require exceptional consistency and quality. We also transfer the experience gained from this production into our LED luminaires, where a high-quality LED module is the decisive element.
  • What is the unit of measure for the success of the LED modules you manufacture?
The highest value and the most important recognition for us is the trust shown to us by our long-standing customers. This trust is also a commitment for the future. In today's competition with low-cost Asian production, long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with our clients are what determine the prosperity of our company.
  • Do you also achieve successes and references in the manufacture of LED luminaires, as you do in signage lighting?
It was precisely our experience with the demanding nature of signage lighting that naturally led us to the manufacture of LED floodlights and later also to lighting for industry, petrol stations, sports facilities, and LED street lighting for municipalities and towns. In this field, too, we have implemented very interesting projects, such as lighting safety zones at the Mochovce nuclear power plant and later also at the Czech Dukovany nuclear power plant, lighting many industrial companies, numerous networks of petrol stations, sports facilities and similar applications. The luminaires in these projects have already operated for up to 100,000 hours without failures or warranty claims.
  • What makes the implementation of demanding projects interesting for you?
Every demanding project and every need to innovate our luminaires moves us forward. We enjoy our work, which is why we like to learn and improve. Industrial lighting with 24-hour operation, or with high temperatures and dust, is an excellent “laboratory” for us to evaluate the real quality and service life of the LED luminaires we manufacture. It is a very good feeling when, after 10 or 15 years, a satisfied client contacts us because they want to order luminaires for another new production hall.
  • What benefits does your company bring to its clients?
Individual communication with the client, and understanding their ideas and needs, is decisive for us. This is also why we do not primarily sell our lighting through an e-shop. Our customers are professionals who prefer clear and specific solutions. They often choose us because we advise them and manufacture LED lighting customised in many parameters. As a result, we better meet clients' needs, save their time and installation costs, and deliver a better lighting effect and satisfaction.
  • Can LED modules for signage also be customised?
Yes, we often modify them in this way. In addition to standard products that we keep in stock for immediate dispatch, we also manufacture customised LED modules.
  • In what ways can you customise your LED luminaires?
Within technical possibilities, and after taking safety and standards into account, we adjust luminaire dimensions, housing colour, mounting method and brackets, luminaire wiring, cabling and connector types, types of light and motion sensors, the method of control and dimming of the lighting (wired or wireless), as well as the types of LED diodes used (within the Nichia portfolio), colour temperatures and CRI, optical systems and beam angles, power settings of the luminaires and their luminous flux. For demanding applications, it is possible to produce the housing with an additional anti-corrosion finish and similar modifications.
  • How do consultation, lighting calculations and testing before purchase work?
First of all, we need to know the client's needs and requirements for the lighting. It is equally necessary to know the purpose and function of the space to which the design relates. We then select suitable types of luminaires from our range. This is followed by a lighting calculation in DIALux, often with alternative solutions. These may differ in the layout of the luminaires, the mounting method and similar details. Our advantage is extensive experience, so we always compare the theoretical design and project with already completed projects and with the feedback we have received from our customers.
  • Why did you decide to use Nichia LED diodes exclusively; does this not limit you?
The basic philosophy of our company is to provide clients with guaranteed quality and light that is pleasant for the eyes. We believe that this combination is ideally represented by our long-term cooperation with Nichia, the largest manufacturer of LED diodes.
  • What do binning, 3-step MacAdam and LED colour consistency mean?
Within the 3-step MacAdam ellipse that we use, this means smaller visual differences in light colour between LED diodes. This technical parameter is extremely important in the manufacture of illuminated signage. Thanks to the quality of Nichia LED diodes, we can guarantee our clients outstanding stability and “binning” of the supplied white-light diodes. Even after years, we manufacture LED modules for clients with the same BIN and the same shade of light. This fact is crucial especially for large projects, such as Vienna Airport, where our client has been adding and replacing information and wayfinding panels over the years and all of them must shine 100% identically.
  • What do you mean by healthy light?
The basis is photobiological testing of the LED diodes used, as well as of complete luminaires. Nichia's product portfolio also includes LED diode series such as Optisolis, Dynasolis, Vitasolis and Clear White color, which directly influence not only the quality of visual perception, but also human biorhythm and mental health.
  • Why do you use CRI rather than Ra for your products, and what is the difference?
For our products, we use the designation CRI because it is an internationally understandable and professionally used method for evaluating the colour rendering quality of a light source. CRI represents a broader methodology (14 to 15 colour samples) that expresses how faithfully light renders colours compared with a reference light source.
Ra is a specific general value within CRI, calculated as the average of eight basic test colours, R1 to R8. Ra alone therefore provides quick orientation, but it does not describe all colour shades or the overall spectral quality of the light source. The use of the CRI designation is therefore more professional and more suitable for the professional evaluation of LED modules and luminaires.
  • Why do you address optics and beam angle in such detail?
One of the benefits of our production is the possibility of manufacturing luminaires with a suitably selected optical system. When we light exactly where we need to, a less powerful and cheaper luminaire is usually sufficient. It also has lower consumption, and a customised beam angle brings better visual comfort and reduces unwanted glare or light pollution. The correct setting of light direction is a fundamental issue in the manufacture of our LED luminaires. Our range includes the “SL in line” series of luminaires with additionally adjustable shields. These are particularly appreciated by workers in industry when lighting workstations, production lines and similar applications.
  • What does lighting comfort mean to you?
At the beginning of LED technology use, efficiency and savings were at the forefront. Today, professional lighting design and manufacturing must also take into account lighting comfort and the influence of artificial lighting on human vision and health, as well as on nature, which is strongly affected by our urbanised society.
  • When do you recommend DALI-2 control and when Casambi?
We would not narrow the possibilities of control and dimming only to these two communication platforms. We also manufacture luminaires with PWM, 0-10 V and Powerline control; in addition to Casambi, we also use other wireless systems and platforms such as LoRaWAN, LTE-M and NB-IoT. For a new installation with new cabling, it is appropriate to consider wired control, for example DALI. However, when renovating lighting, and sometimes also in new projects, it is practical to use wireless technologies. For both types of implementation, our range includes not only luminaires but also various types of sensors, from basic motion and light sensors to air-quality sensors and similar devices.
  • Is the LED driver generally the most failure-prone component?
For our LED modules and LED luminaires, we use exclusively high-quality LED drivers from Tridonic and, to a smaller extent, Mean Well. Even within these manufacturers' ranges, there are different drivers for ordinary hobby applications and for professional industry solutions. Even at the cost of higher expenditure, we select those with a longer declared lifetime and intended for demanding industry conditions. Thanks to this, we do not have warranty claims on the basis of which we would evaluate LED drivers as a failure-prone and risky component.
  • Can a luminaire be adapted for 12-48 V DC or 110 V AC power supply?
Yes. Depending on the type of luminaire and the required power, we can modify the power electronics so that the luminaire can be operated from 12 V DC, 24 V DC or 48 V DC sources. We use suitable DC/DC LED drivers that ensure stable and safe power supply to the LED modules.
For special applications, for example lighting for Japanese or Korean industrial machines, we can also prepare versions for 110 V AC power supply. During the design, we mainly verify the input voltage, luminaire power, control method, protections and operational safety requirements.
  • How should luminaires be compared: by watts, lumens or lux?
If the required final lighting parameters are specified in lux, we design the suitable type and number of luminaires on the basis of a lighting calculation, for example in DIALux. The design evaluates not only the luminous flux of the luminaire in lumens, but also the beam angle, optics, mounting height, luminaire spacing and the required uniformity of illumination.
In a standard technical comparison of luminaires, it is appropriate to compare luminaires with a similar luminous flux in lumens. The more advantageous solution is then the one that achieves the required light output with a lower power input in watts.
At the same time, we point out that when assessing the technical parameters of luminaires, it is important to pay attention to the stated tolerances. In quality luminaires, the power input tolerance should not be significantly higher than approximately +/-5%, and the luminous flux tolerance is usually within +/-10%. Disproportionately high tolerances may serve as a safeguard for marketing claims about luminaire efficiency that are overstated.
  • How do you approach the mechanics, cooling and materials of the luminaire?
To maintain quality and above-standard warranties, the housings of our luminaires are made exclusively of aluminium. This allows better heat dissipation and cooling of the LED diodes. Depending on the application of the luminaires, the housings may also have additional anti-corrosion protection, such as hard anodising, powder coating - Komaxit - or a duplex system. We have our own thermal testing chamber, so already during luminaire development we test their long-term thermal resistance.
  • What is your company's position on ecology?
We are concerned by the way official government circles, including within the EU, approach the protection of nature and biodiversity. Yes, we all know various ecological slogans and many senseless directives which, at the end of the day, do not serve nature and ecology so much as selected logistics and industrial groups. We believe that the best contribution to ecology is not bans, but first and foremost the reduction of waste and wise consumption.
  • What does your company actually do for ecology?
We are certainly not supporters of attractive but ultimately empty PR slogans. Already during the design and planning of our products, we take energy efficiency and, above all, the long service life of our luminaires into account. Repairability, the possibility of upgrading luminaires and their recycling are also a matter of course.
  • Do you address the topic of dark skies and light pollution? Does this not go against you as a lighting manufacturer?
From the very beginning of manufacturing outdoor lighting, we have emphasised our exceptional benefit: the possibility of manufacturing LED floodlights and street luminaires with a customised beam angle. Simply put, when we light only precisely where we need to, we save energy and minimise light pollution. In our luminaires, we commonly use efficient sensor, dimming and lighting control technologies that further optimise lighting and reduce light pollution.
  • What has the greatest influence on the quality of your products?
First and foremost, it is the experience of our entire team and the sense of quality of each of our employees. A certain humility and respect for “everything that can happen” also certainly has an influence. This results in consistency and emphasis on the quality of project preparation, the quality of manufacturing processes and the components used. A well-set process of testing and final inspection is a matter of course.
  • What are the possibilities for repairing LED luminaires?
We design our luminaires with an emphasis on repairability, serviceability and long-term availability of spare parts. To the greatest possible extent, we use standardised LED modules, power supplies, optics and mechanical interfaces, and for selected solutions we also build on Zhaga specifications. This makes it possible during service to replace key components of the luminaire without needing to replace the entire product. For some types of luminaires, future modernisation can also be considered, for example replacing LED modules, optics or power supplies, or adding newer control systems. For example, we deliberately design our LED street luminaires so that they are not only repairable, but also prepared for future technical innovations, including intelligent lighting control or communication modules.
  • There are views in society about “planned weak points” and manufacturer-planned obsolescence of products in an effort to increase sales:
In some industries, planned product obsolescence is discussed; however, in professional LED luminaires, and especially among smaller manufacturers, such an approach does not make sense. Our company builds its competitiveness precisely on the long-term reliability, repairability and technical quality of its luminaires. For a smaller European manufacturer, it is not possible to build customer trust or gain repeat sales by deliberately shortening product life. On the contrary, long service life and a low failure rate are among our main arguments against cheap import competition. We therefore design our luminaires so that they reliably fulfil their purpose even after many years of operation and after warranties have expired.
  • What is your approach to warranties?
Many competing companies in our industry understand warranty declarations as an inexpensive marketing tool that costs them nothing at the moment they are trying to win a customer. The foundation of how our company works is long-term partnerships with customers. If increased luminaire failure rates appeared, even after the expiry of the official 5-, 7- or 10-year warranty, it would be an unpleasant situation for us. In addition, there are many operations with 24-hour lighting at higher temperatures, where lower quality would show earlier. In the long term, this would damage our fair relationships with customers, and we cannot afford that.
  • What warranties and what “fair approach” can you publicly demonstrate?
A warranty is a commitment we give to our client today for the future. Beyond the usual standard warranties for replacing the product itself, we also provide our clients with a warranty covering the costs associated with a potential warranty claim. Such a warranty is rather exceptional on the market and confirms our conviction about the quality of our products.
  • How are warranty claims and the above-standard warranty handled in practice?
First, we identify the product and the project in which it was used. This is helped by 23 years of precise archiving of every order, the components used and the manufacturing processes. We then have two options. The first is to manufacture a new luminaire and deliver it to the client; the client replaces the faulty luminaire on site with the new one, which saves service costs. We then send a courier for the faulty luminaire and subsequently look for the cause of the failure and assess whether the claim is justified. If the first option is not possible for some reason, we repair the claimed luminaire, determine the cause of the failure and inform the client about the result of the claim. Every luminaire failure, including one that is not covered by warranty conditions, is handled without delay. Beyond standard warranties, our declaration is to cover, to a reasonable extent, the costs associated with a justified warranty claim within 2 years of installation.
  • In which product direction does your company see its future?
We see the future of our company in the further development of professional LED luminaires and LED modules that are not based only on low energy consumption, but above all on light quality, reliability, repairability and the possibility of technical adaptation to a specific application. We want to continue improving customer service, digitalisation and automation of manufacturing processes, while at the same time preserving what is important to us - the ability to produce customised and technically more demanding solutions. Our goal is not to offer only standard products from stock, but to design lighting that genuinely corresponds to the needs of a specific project. We attach great importance to the quality of the light itself. It is not enough for a luminaire simply to “shine”. In modern lighting, correct efficiency, optics, colour temperature, colour rendering index, glare reduction, suitable control and long-term stability of parameters are important. Therefore, we want to promote more strongly the importance of high-quality light in industry, public spaces, advertising, agriculture and special applications.
